Monday Campmeeting- The Revival Of The Pentecostal Believer

Sermon

The Revival of the Pentecostal Believer

Bro. Lloyd Shuecraft · October 5, 2026 Monday Night Campmeeting Main text: 1 Timothy 4:12–16, emphasizing verse 14. Introduction: Neglect not the gift Paul urged Timothy to be an example to believers, continue in sound doctrine, and not neglect the gift God had placed within him. Brother Shuecraft applies this warning to Pentecostal believers today. We must do more than remember what God has done in the past. His work in our lives should be treasured, nurtured, and stirred into fresh activity.

Read 1 Timothy 4:12–16 in the KJV
  1. 01

Treasure the genuine work of the Holy Ghost

    • Opposition, criticism, and counterfeit experiences must not cause us to abandon what is real. We do not have to choose between spiritual disorder and having no spiritual fire.
    • Brother Shuecraft affirms the baptism of the Holy Ghost with the initial physical evidence of speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance.
    • Do not take your own experience with God for granted. Remember His work in your life, value it, and refuse to let fear or the coldness of others lead you into neglect.

    Scriptures: 1 Timothy 4:14, 2 Timothy 1:7, Acts 19:1–6.

  2. 02

Depend upon God’s power—not merely human ability

    • Paul wanted believers’ faith to rest in the power of God rather than the wisdom of men. The church still needs the genuine operation of the Holy Ghost.
    • Education, natural ability, methods, and programs cannot substitute for God’s presence. Something that began in the Spirit cannot be sustained by human effort alone.
    • Every believer has a part. Timothy was not Paul, but what God had given Timothy was needed. Do not dismiss your usefulness because you are not someone else.

Brother Shuecraft’s testimonies emphasize the church’s continuing need for God’s power to save, heal, deliver, and strengthen people.

    Scriptures: Romans 1:11, 1 Corinthians 2:4–5, Galatians 3:3.

  3. 03

Join spiritual experience with purity and faith

    • Paul’s instruction to Timothy concerned his character as well as his gift. Our speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity should agree with what we profess.
    • Genuine Pentecostal experience should affect everyday life—not merely produce an outward response during a service. Inconsistent living can hinder our witness and grieve the Spirit.
    • Believe both that God’s gifts are for our generation and that He can work personally in your life. Do not assume His promises are available to everyone except you.

    Scriptures: 1 Timothy 4:12–16, Romans 12:6.

  4. 04

Stir up the gift and keep the fire burning

    • Prayer, worship, and yielding to the Holy Ghost help us overcome spiritual neglect. Seek both the fruit of the Spirit in our lives and the gifts of the Spirit in the church.
    • Paul told Timothy to stir up the gift of God. God gives the gift, but we have a responsibility not to leave it unused or unattended.
    • Brother Shuecraft compares this responsibility to the priests tending the altar fire. God supplied the fire, but they had to keep it burning. Come to church seeking to contribute spiritually—not expecting others to carry the whole service.

    Scriptures: 2 Timothy 1:6, Jude 1:20, 1 Corinthians 12:31. Scripture connection: Leviticus 6:12–13.

Closing challenge: Keep the name with a flame

Do not settle for a Pentecostal name while neglecting Pentecostal experience.

Brother Shuecraft invites those who have not received the baptism of the Holy Ghost to seek Him, and those who have received to seek a fresh filling. He also calls believers to renewed usefulness in spiritual gifts.

Treasure what God has given you, keep your heart pure, pray in faith, and pass this living faith to the next generation.

As he tells Shelby Street Pentecostal Lighthouse: “Keep the name with a flame.”
