Thursday Night Campmeeting Youth- Carry On

Sermon

Carry On

Bro. Jaron Webb · Thursday Youth Service · October 8, 2026 Introduction: Following Jesus every day Jesus calls His followers to deny themselves, take up their cross daily, and follow Him. Cross-bearing is not optional or something reserved for church services. In a culture that puts self first, believers must surrender to Christ, keep their eyes on Him, and carry on.

    The Work of the Cross

    • Taking up the cross means surrendering our will and crucifying the flesh, allowing Christ to change us.
    • Daily prayer, Scripture, and close fellowship with Jesus turn our attention away from ourselves and toward what matters to Him.
    • As we walk surrendered, we recognize sins and unnecessary weights that hinder our obedience. Some things must be laid aside.
    • God works in us to purify, strengthen, establish, and settle us.

    Scriptures: Galatians 5:24; Romans 12:2; Hebrews 12:1–2; 1 Peter 5:10.

    The Weight of the Cross

    • Following Christ requires daily commitment—not a convenient cross carried at church but left behind at school or work.
    • We cannot live a surrendered life through our own strength. Jesus never intended for us to carry the cross alone.
    • Jesus invites us to take His yoke and learn of Him. Walking closely with the Master means depending on His strength and help.
    • When obedience feels difficult, draw nearer to Jesus instead of laying down the cross.

    Scriptures: Matthew 11:29–30; Proverbs 18:24.

    The Worth of the Cross

    • Do not become so focused on the weight of the cross or the changes it requires that you overlook its worth.
    • Present suffering cannot compare with the glory God has promised. Following Jesus is worth every step of the journey.
    • The Lord promises the crown of life to those who endure temptation and love Him.
    • Keep eternity in view, thanking Jesus for saving, redeeming, and faithfully helping His people.

    Scriptures: Romans 8:18; James 1:12.

    Closing Challenge

When the cross feels heavy, the road becomes rocky, or others discourage your commitment, carry on. Keep moving forward with Jesus. Do not give up, stop, or quit.

Thank Him for the cross, depend on His help, and keep your eyes on the destination. One day we will see Jesus, and it will be worth it all.
