Wednesday Night Campmeeting- I Won’t Let The Enemy Empty Me

Sermon

I Won’t Let the Enemy Empty Me

Bro. Jerry Pascarella · October 7, 2026 Wednesday Night Campmeeting Main texts: Nahum 2:1–2; Ephesians 5:18 (KJV) “…for the emptiers have emptied them out, and marred their vine branches.” — Nahum 2:2 “And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;” — Ephesians 5:18 Introduction: Guard what God has given you A powerful service should produce more than a temporary spiritual experience. God wants His people to remain filled with His Spirit after campmeeting ends and everyday responsibilities resume. Bro. Jerry places Nahum’s description of people being emptied beside Paul’s command to be filled with the Spirit. He acknowledges that Nahum originally spoke about earthly enemies and judgment, then applies the picture spiritually: Satan seeks to rob believers of what God has placed within them, but the Holy Ghost supplies the power to overcome. The burden of the message is personal. Rather than merely noticing what others have lost, each believer must determine to remain watchful, responsive to God, and full of His Spirit.

The attack of Satan: Guard what God has placed within you

    • The enemy is determined to make inroads into our lives. Bro. Jerry illustrates this with a bank robbery in which thieves worked unnoticed before taking what was valuable. Spiritual loss can also develop while people are distracted or unaware.
    • Satan seeks more than outward possessions. He wants to take the Word from our hearts, weaken our prayer life, silence our worship, and rob us of anointing, peace, joy, and assurance.
    • A history of revival does not replace a present relationship with God. Nineveh’s earlier response to Jonah makes its later condition a warning against assuming that yesterday’s experience will sustain tomorrow’s faithfulness.
    • Do not mistake the enemy’s invitations for harmless opportunities. What appears enjoyable or appealing can draw a person away from God and leave spiritual emptiness behind.

    Scriptures: Nahum 2:1–2; Jonah 3:4–10; John 10:10.

The admonition of Scripture: Stay watchful and use your spiritual weapons

    • Bro. Jerry draws attention to the commands in Nahum 2:1: keep the munition, watch the way, make your loins strong, and fortify your power. He applies these words as a call for spiritual alertness and preparation.
    • Watchfulness requires attention. Do not allow distractions, spiritual drowsiness, or preoccupation with other things to keep you from responding when the Holy Ghost moves.
    • The church is not defenseless. Our weapons are not carnal; they are mighty through God. Bro. Jerry encourages believers to depend upon God’s power when confronting strongholds of fear, bitterness, and anxiety.
    • Do not settle for barely enough spiritual strength to get by. Seek all that God desires to accomplish in your life—cleansing through Christ, sanctification, and the power and working of the Holy Ghost.

    Scriptures: Nahum 2:1; 2 Corinthians 10:4; Luke 24:49.

The fullness of the Spirit: Be filled and keep being filled

    • The answer to spiritual emptiness is the fullness of the Holy Ghost. Bro. Jerry repeatedly emphasizes that overcoming the “emptier” requires a relationship with the One who fills and refills.
    • Being filled with the Spirit must extend beyond an annual meeting. We need His presence on Monday morning, in ordinary responsibilities, and throughout our continuing walk with God.
    • A wicked environment does not make a Spirit-filled life impossible. Paul told believers in Ephesus to be filled with the Spirit, and God’s power remains greater than the opposition surrounding His people.
    • Those who have never received the baptism of the Holy Ghost should seek Him, and those already filled should seek a fresh filling. Respond willingly, open your heart, and desire more than a passing blessing.

    Scriptures: Ephesians 5:18; Acts 2:1–4; 1 John 4:4; Isaiah 59:19.

Closing challenge: Do not return to an empty place

Bro. Jerry closes by inviting the congregation to stand, lift their hands, and seek power from on high. He calls those needing the Holy Ghost for the first time—and believers needing a fresh filling—to come forward and yield themselves to God.

When campmeeting is over and the visiting preachers have gone, do not return to spiritual emptiness. Guard your prayer life, remain attentive to God’s Word, and continue responding to His Spirit. Let the determination of your heart be: “I won’t let the enemy empty me.”
